International Hindu Vedic University has a provision for transfer of credits if students have taken equivalent courses elsewhere (in an educational institution of equivalent standing) at the Master’s or Doctoral level.
In order to get approval for any such credit, the student needs to provide IHU detailed information specified in the items listed below for each of the courses for which the credit is being requested. Please note that in some cases an evaluation/examination of the background by IHU faculty may be needed before equivalent credits are awarded to the student.
The final decision will rest with the Office of the Academic Affairs at IHU.
For transfer of credits
1. IHU course number and name for which equivalent credit is being requested.
2. When (dates) and at which institution the equivalent course was completed.
3. Grade or marks obtained for the equivalent course completed elsewhere (documentary evidence required).
4. Course description, outline, topics covered, books followed etc. in as much detail as available.
5. Name and qualifications of the instructor(s) who taught the course.
The key purpose of the above procedure is to maintain the academic standing of IHU programs at the highest Academic Integrity and standards.
Transfer of Credits from IHU to other schools
Please note that rules and procedures for transfer of credits, from International Hindu University, to any other educational institution are decided by the receiving institution.
Although, the University will be cooperating with other institutions for streamlining such procedures, at the present stage, there is no implied or explicit guarantee that such a transfer will always be possible.
Students planning any such transfer are advised to inquire about such acceptance from their institution(s) before finalizing their study plans.
Precedence’s do exist where other institutions have accepted credits for courses taken at International Hindu University.
Credits for Prior Learning
IHU values the college-level knowledge students acquire while in high school, at work and other life experiences, and military experience. Credits for Prior Learning options afford students the opportunity to accelerate the time it takes to complete a degree.
Students interested in these options must first apply to IHU and pay the non-refundable application fee.
Advanced Placement
Advanced placement exams are taken after students complete the corresponding Advanced Placement courses, which are available to juniors and seniors in most US high schools. To qualify for college credit, students must earn an appropriate passing score on the nationally administered exam. Credits will not be awarded for examinations that duplicate course work or other exam credits previously posted to a student’s academic record. In order to award credit, International Hindu University requires an official grade report, sent directly to the college from College Board, not a student copy.

Armed Services Educational Credits
International Hindu University will conduct an evaluation of educational experiences in the Armed Forces and award postsecondary level credits at the freshman and/or sophomore levels when appropriate. The evaluation procedure will be comprised of two categories of military experiences. TYPE I will be the evaluation of military courses listed in the Guide to the Evaluation of Educational Experience in the Armed Forces, American Council on Education. The Registrar will receive and evaluate petitions for military courses in the same manner as other incoming transfer credits. TYPE II will be the evaluation of other military training and experiences by the Department of Experiential Learning. The standard fee for the assessment of Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) will be applied to TYPE II evaluations.
Students interested in this option should see an Academic Advisor to complete the “Request for Evaluation of Military Courses” form.
Cambridge AICE (British AS-Level and A-Level)
The AICE program is an international, advanced secondary curriculum and assessment program equivalent to the British system of “A-Levels.” Students who wish to receive AICE credits should submit official transcripts to the Registrar’s office. College Level Examination Program (CLEP)
The College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) program provides an opportunity for students to demonstrate competency in certain subjects and thereby earn college credit for particular courses without enrolling in classes. Students seeking CLEP credit at International Hindu University but do not wish to become INTERNATIONAL HINDU UNIVERSITY students must submit a non-credit admissions application to the Admissions/Registration Office. Individuals wishing to become INTERNATIONAL HINDU UNIVERSITY students and receive CLEP credit must apply to International Hindu University and pay the non-refundable application fee. Former INTERNATIONAL HINDU UNIVERSITY dual enrollment students must submit a Re-Entry application but do not pay the application fee.
CLEP tests are administered throughout the year at the IHU campus testing centers. Check the Testing Center webpage for CLEP testing opportunities. CLEP credit cannot duplicate regular college course credit already earned, Dual Enrollment credit, or other credits earned through examination. This credit is also not included in determining the qualitative or quantitative measures for student financial aid standards of academic progress annual review. Courses for which credit is awarded is not included in INTERNATIONAL HINDU UNIVERSITY enrolled credit hours and are not eligible to meet in residence requirements for graduation.
Dual Enrollment
The Dual Enrollment Program is an accelerated program that allows eligible secondary students to take postsecondary coursework and simultaneously earn both high school and college credits. Early Admission, a form of dual enrollment, allows a student to pursue postsecondary degrees offered by IHU..
Eligibility Requirements
1. Be enrolled as a student in a public or nonpublic secondary school or home education program in US higher secondary education system.
2. Minimum 3.0 unweighted high school grade point average (GPA) • Place college level on placement test (PERT, ACT or SAT) in all areas – English, Reading and Math
3. Earn a grade of “C” or higher in each college level course. (Early Admission students who do not earn a grade of “C” or higher in each course may only continue in the dual enrollment program if they have maintained a college GPA of 2.0, still meet eligibility requirements and have approval from their high school guidance counselor.)
